Welcome to St. Benet's & St. Hilda's Website

To our parents, families, young people, children and single people. Our prayers are with the sick, the housebound and the bereaved. Welcome if you have come from across the world, from another part of the country or from another church or parish.

Welcome back to St. Benet's anyone who has lost contact with the parish - young people, young families, couples, single people and anyone who wishes to be part our Parish Family.

The Journey in Faith 2012 is a programme for anyone who wishes to know more about the Catholic faith or anyone who wishes to become a Catholic. The programme continues on Monday 6th February 2012 in St. Benet's Parish Centre at 7pm.  This session is repeated on Thursday 8th February in St. Joseph's at 6pm.  All welcome.

5th Sunday of the Year

Reflection

The Sabbath

Six days a week we work under strain,

beset with worries, and slaves to material things.

But on the Sabbath we turn our attention

to the things of the spirit.

Here we are given time to be thankful,

to be joyful, to be free,

time to look at where we are going in life,

and, if needs be, to correct our compass;

time to be with the Lord and with one another.

The Sabbath provides us with a window into eternity,

and a halting place on the road to the kingdom of God.

We don't keep the Sabbath;

the Sabbath keeps us - if we observe it.

Thank you, Lord, for the gift of the Sabbath.
